Lions CB Terrion Arnold Arrested, Faces Eight Felony Charges in Florida Robbery and Kidnapping Case
The Detroit Lions are dealing with an unexpected off-the-field situation involving one of their young defensive starters.
Cornerback Terrion Arnold was arrested Wednesday night after turning himself in to authorities in Tampa, Florida. According to court records and reports from ESPN and the Associated Press, Arnold now faces eight felony charges: four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred on February 4, 2026, in the Tampa area.
Prosecutors Detail Serious Allegations
According to prosecutors, Arnold is accused of helping organize a retaliatory attack after believing three men were responsible for stealing more than $250,000 in cash and valuables from an Airbnb he had rented.
Investigators later determined those individuals were not connected to the alleged theft.
Court documents allege the victims were lured to an apartment, held at gunpoint, assaulted, and robbed. Prosecutors claim Arnold initially observed portions of the incident through a livestream before later arriving at the apartment.
Authorities have described Arnold as the alleged “primary conspirator” in the case.
Six Others Already Arrested
Arnold is not the first person charged in the investigation.
Six other individuals were previously arrested. Prosecutors say two have entered plea agreements and are expected to cooperate with investigators, while four others remain in custody awaiting trial.
Arnold’s Representatives Deny the Allegations
Arnold’s legal team and management agency strongly deny the accusations.
In a statement released following his arrest, his representatives said there is “no credible evidence” linking Arnold to the crimes and argued prosecutors are relying on testimony from individuals facing their own criminal charges.
Arnold is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
Lions Issue Brief Statement
The Detroit Lions acknowledged the situation in a brief statement following Arnold’s arrest.
“We are aware of the report involving Terrion Arnold and are gathering more information. Because this is an ongoing legal matter, we will have no further comment at this time.”
The organization has not announced whether Arnold will participate in team activities while the legal process unfolds.
What This Means for Detroit
The timing couldn’t be worse for Detroit.
Arnold was expected to play a major role in the Lions’ secondary entering the 2026 season after showing flashes during his first two NFL campaigns. Following the retirement of veteran center Frank Ragnow and an offseason focused on strengthening the roster through the draft, Detroit now faces uncertainty surrounding one of its projected starting cornerbacks.
The NFL could also review the matter under its Personal Conduct Policy, meaning league discipline remains a possibility regardless of the outcome of the criminal case.
